Why this coffee?
Mario Gomez has established his farm, La Soledad, as being able to process many different cultivars through numerous processing methods. Each of the different varieties is divided into sections, allowing for selective picking to showcase the many cultivars he grows.
This batch is a blend of ombligon and caturron and has been processed into clean parchment dried coffee.
This one is more delicate than the papayo batch. Fine floral aromas and a warm peach character make it a delicious, refined filter coffee or espresso for professionals or well-equipped amateurs. Subtle and refined
We also have another batch of Mario Gomez, 100% papayo, which has a completely different flavor and aromatic profile. Tasting both is a great opportunity to firmly understand that coffee is indeed a product of its terroir.

History
Kawa is a Colombian trading company, founded in 2014, specializing in the export of high-quality coffee. It is a family business, managed by the Gomez family. The family also owns its own farm, La Soledad.
Their approach focuses on building direct and transparent relationships with local producers, ensuring access to exceptional coffee while delivering real value to farmers. Recognized as a BIC (benefit and collective interest) company, Kawa is dedicated to creating a positive social and economic impact.
Kawa works with 35 coffee producer associations and more than 200 independent producers in regions such as Huila, Cauca, Tolima, Santander, Quindío, and Risaralda. The company is based in Pitalito, in southern Huila.
When it comes to transparency, she works with producers, customers, and her own team to ensure full traceability and open communication throughout the supply chain. Each batch is traceable back to the producer, farm, or association, giving farmers the recognition they deserve when the coffee reaches its final destination.
When it comes to quality control, Kawa has a solid system:
On the farm: The company provides technical assistance to farmers, helping them optimize processes such as growing, picking, processing, drying and storage, to ensure consistent quality.
Sourcing: Samples are carefully collected and cut at multiple stages to ensure consistency and stability, all according to SCA protocols and under the supervision of a certified Q Arabica classifier.
Milling: Coffees are tested before and after milling to check for any changes in profile.
Pre-shipment: Each batch is re-analyzed before shipment to ensure it meets quality standards.
Kawa has also developed a detailed database based on sample analyses conducted over the years. This allows it to map the coffee profiles of the regions it works with and provide information on quality and availability throughout the year.
