Why this coffee?

Kenyan coffees are truly special.

For those who are not yet familiar with them, the aromatic profile and intensity will be surprising.

For connoisseurs, they are completely unmissable and unique.

The Guama washing station / factory falls under the umbrella of the Baragwi Cooperative Society cooperative, which was founded in 1974.

If taste were a color, this coffee would be all purple and beautifully illustrates the aromatic power of certain Kenyan coffees.

A few classic Kenyan cultivars mixed with relatively new cultivars, treated with characteristic Kenyan precision.

Big flavors in the cup with intense fruity power.

History

The Guama Factory is a member of the Baragwi Farmers' Cooperative Society, which is well known for consistently producing some of the best coffees in Kirinyaga.

The factory is named after the village in the region where it is located and began processing coffee in 1974. The cherries are grown by smallholders in the surrounding area. The annual volume of cherries processed here is 750 tons, mainly SL 34 and SL 28.

The soil is rich, sandy volcanic soil. The trees flower in February and April, with the main harvest occurring from October to December.

The cherries are sorted before being pulped. The parchment is then fermented overnight before being washed and graded. It is then dried on drying tables for 8 to 14 days.

Sun-dried for 8 to 14 days on African drying beds. The coffees are covered with plastic during the day and night.
